From St. Barth airport to Public, what to expect

Public is a small coastal neighborhood between Gustavia and the fishing village of Corossol, with its own quiet beach. The drive from the airport runs along the edge of the capital.

From the moment we step out of the SBH terminal, Public is roughly 8 minutes away. The standard daytime fare hovers around 30 euros. After 6:30pm, on Sundays and on public holidays, plan an extra 5 euros. Between midnight and 6am the surcharge climbs to 10 euros, but very few drivers operate that late so we always pre-book in that case.

Worth knowing: hotels like Eden Rock, Cheval Blanc and Le Toiny all maintain their own driver networks. If you are staying at one, the concierge can usually get you a car faster than calling around. We still recommend keeping our WhatsApp number in your phone as a backup.

Is there a cheaper option than a taxi from the airport to Public?

Not really. There is no Uber, Lyft or shared shuttle in St. Barth. Renting a car is more economical only if you stay several days. For a one-off transfer, a licensed taxi at the regulated fare is the simplest and fairest option.

Are taxis available at night and on Sundays for this route?

They are, but the number of cars on the road drops sharply after 8pm and on Sundays. Most drivers switch to restaurant standby in the evening. Booking ahead is the safer move.
